What materials or software will I need?
The materials and software required for the composition class can vary depending on the level of the class and the specific program you choose. For beginners and children who may not have access to a computer, alternative methods are available. They can memorize their compositions or write them down on a blank music score. However, for participants who have access to a computer or device with internet connectivity, having music notation software can enhance the learning experience. Examples of music notation software include Sibelius, Finale, or MuseScore.
It’s important to note that while we provide keyboards for in-class use, you will need to have your own instrument for practicing outside of the class. Whether it’s a piano, guitar, or any other instrument of your choice, having access to your own instrument will greatly benefit your composition journey.
During the class, our instructors will guide you on the best approaches and resources based on your available materials and software. We strive to accommodate different circumstances and ensure that all participants can engage in the composition process effectively.
