The Staircase Philosophy: Growth, Patience, and Enjoyment
At Staircase Piano School, we believe that music is a journey that everyone, regardless of age, talent, or experience, can enjoy. We understand that learning something new can sometimes be frustrating, and setbacks may lead to self-doubt or even the temptation to give up. But abandoning your passion can often result in regret later on.
Our approach to music is simple: it’s about personal growth, not perfection. Our teachers will guide you, but ultimately, it’s up to you to decide where your musical path will take you and what you’ll discover along the way.
The Staircase message is clear: be proud of your progress, embrace the learning process—including the mistakes—and let go of any fears of not being “good enough.” Go at your own pace and let the music take you to the fullest expression of your potential.

About Me
Floriana, the founder of Staircase Piano School, is an Italian pianist and piano teacher.
She fell in love with Music quite early, thanks to her mother’s passion for Opera
(particularly “Le Nozze di Figaro”) and started learning piano when she was only four years old.
She was then admitted to her local Music Conservatoire.
After gaining a first-class honour degree in Piano at Vicenza Conservatoire in 2014, she spent a few years teaching her instrument. She gained experience with all kinds of students, children, teenagers, and adults, all with different levels of preparation, from beginners to advanced.
During those years, she was also performing in theatres and concert halls, both as a soloist and with other musicians, taking part in many national and international competitions and attending masterclasses of world-famous performers.
She then moved to London after being admitted to the prestigious Royal College of Music, where she was awarded the Master in Performance Diploma in 2022.

Glenn’s story
“Not too long ago, I had the privilege to meet an intelligent and lively five years old boy named Glenn.
He started showing great enthusiasm at the idea of learning how to play piano and left me amazed with how quickly he could pick up concepts and patterns, with little to no explanation, and remember them the following week.
However, as time passed, his smiles became less and less frequent and were being replaced by a focused, concerned face as he started to become worried and frustrated, to the point that, on one occasion, he even refused to attend the lesson. His parents explained to me that he was nervous about making mistakes and not being able to understand what we were studying immediately.
During one of these lessons, when he was hiding behind the sofa and refusing to come near the piano, I had an idea: I told him that something had come to my mind, an idea that would have solved all his worries.
I then drew a set of steps on his book’s front page and explained to him how every mistake was only another step that eventually would’ve led him to the top. “Actually, I want you to make all the mistakes available!” I told him, as he burst into laughter with a relieved face.
A few days after that episode, I received a text from his mum saying that Glenn kept repeating how he was now “climbing up the stairs” whenever he wanted to learn something new.”
